Visual Story Design

There is an enormous demand out there for content and a surprising lack of talented, skilled storytellers. At A•C•W we hope to fill that gap. We believe film, video, streaming begins with a great story and we can help you get there. We can take you though the process and help you to develop your story visually from a concept all the way to completion if need be. Here at The Contrivance we believe in developing story visually. This even applies to scripts. From our training at Pixar and in feature animation we have learned that the best way to develop your story is to draw it out in storyboards followed by creating a story reel or animatic. We essentially create a rough version of your complete film with storyboard drawings, temporary or scratch dialogue, sound effects and even music. This provides a viewable, shareable sketch of your movie with timing and rhythm to generate feedback on how your story is unfolding. Is it funny? Is the drama working? How are the characters coming across? The STORY reel is useful and informative, a blueprint. A blueprint the production can use to communicate visually and inform the other artists and creative departments - location scouting, costume, set, camera that will join the production later. At A•C•W we excel at creating STORY reels and we can help you as well.

• Provide you with complete version of your film drawn out in storyboards as rough or as detailed as you’d like

• Can provide After Effects for some camera work

• Rough sound design through our parters at Wilmer Sound

• Can direct and provide temporary voice recordings ( scratch dx ) of actors or facilitate the project’s director to record actors.

• Can set up screenings and / or virtual showings of the project for feedback and notes.
